The RÖSLE group of companies was founded in 1888 from the beginnings of a small innovative handicraft business.
WITH COURAGE TO SUCCESS
The master plumber Karl Theodor Rösle founded his company in 1888. In a small area in the centre of Marktoberdorf, he and his journeymen and helpers initially only manufactured products and accessories for construction and roof drainage under the name RÖSLE.
Early on, he recognised the opportunities of industrial production, which was still in its infancy in many sectors at the time. He did not want to come to terms with the limitations of purely manual work. His aim was to combine this high-quality but less efficient method of production with new, machine-based manufacturing methods. As early as 1903, he also added a new product line to the original range: cookware.
OUR FOUNDERS
The early death of the founder in 1907 almost marked the end of the company. Female power saved the day: His wife Viktoria took over the management of the company and continued to control the production during the First World War. Only afterwards did their two children Karl Gustav and Georg Rösle join forces to form the "RÖSLE Brothers".
Business developed well. Another eight years later, the company moved to a new, larger factory, outside what was then the city centre - the current location on Johann-Georg-Fendt-Street.
A separation of the names of the product lines took place almost 100 years after the company was founded. Thus, from 1985 onwards, the products are sold under the names by which they are still known today: Roofing articles under the name GRÖMO (Gebrüder RÖsle Markt Oberdorf) and cookware under the name RÖSLE.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
The company continued to grow. Finally, in 1993/94, more production and storage halls were built outside the city for GRÖMO articles to meet the ever-increasing need for space. Thus, GRÖMO moved to its current location in Röntgenring.
Both product divisions developed so well in their markets that the owners - exclusively members of the Rösle family - decided to legally separate the two divisions to give them optimum scope for development. Thus, in 2002, RÖSLE and GRÖMO were transformed from pure brand names into independent companies, GRÖMO GmbH & Co. KG and RÖSLE GmbH & Co. KG. Despite this separation, the connection continues.
EVERYTHING AT A GLANCE
Frank Bauelemente became part of the group of companies in 2005 and only a few years later, in 2012, RÖSLE expanded its range to include barbecue appliances.
In 2018, Henning Klempp took over the management of RÖSLE. In order to continue to lead all three companies (RÖSLE, Grömo, Frank Bauelemente) unitedly into the future, the RÖSLE GROUP was established as a superordinate entity in 2021.
THE REST IS HISTORY
GRÖMO continues to develop thanks to its many years of experience in metal processing and innovative product developments. Today, the company is already considered a premium brand for roof drainage accessories and is the market leader in Germany and Europe.

In the end, the family is convinced that they have merely borrowed the business from their descendants. The great-grandson of the company's founder, Dr. Hermann Steinhauser, is now the managing partner and continues to manage the group in the fourth generation - this is an achievement that only 1% of all German companies accomplish.
